Text Menu

Overview

The Text Menu provides commands for the following:

  • Markdown directive insertion
  • Indenting
  • Autocompletion control

The Text Menu can be used in both the Text Editor and the Code Editor. However, the only the indent commands are enabled in the Code Editor.

Commands

The effect of most commands depends on whether any text is selected.

Ordered ListInserts 1. + [space] at the cursor.Adds [number] + . + [space] to the start each line of the selection (starting at 1 and continuing as necessary — unless the selection already represents a Markdown unordered list or blockquote, in which case the relevant Markdown directives will be converted to numbers.
BlockquoteInserts > + [space] at the cursor.Adds > + [space] to the start of each line of the selection — unless the selection already represents a Markdown ordered list or unordered list, in which case the relevant Markdown directives will be converted to >.
Increase IndentInserts a [tab] at the cursor.Inserts a [tab] at the start of each line of the selection.
Decrease Indent
Not available.Deletes a [tab] from the start of each line of the selection.
LinkIf placeholders are enabled (see below):

Inserts [Text that will appear linked](http://example.com "Link Title") at the cursor.

If placeholders are disabled:

Inserts []() at the cursor.
If placeholders are enabled (see below):

Wraps the selected text in the following: [<selected text>](http://example.com "Link Title").

If placeholders are disabled:

Wraps the selected text in the following: [<selected text>]().
Link (Reference Style)If placeholders are enabled (see below):

Inserts [Text that will appear linked][A Link Reference ID] at the cursor.

Disable Placeholders
Enable Placeholders
When placeholders are enabled, Steelkilt will include placeholder text (see above) in link and image-related Markdown directives that are created using the Text Menu.When placeholders are disabled, Steelkilt will create empty link and image-related Markdown directives in response to Text Menu commands.
Horizontal RuleInserts --- at the cursor.Inserts --- at the start of the selection.
Disable Autocompletion
Enable Autocompletion
When autocompletion is enabled, Steelkilt will display an autocompletion menu in Text Editor when you type, if appropriate.When autocompletion is disabled, no autocompletion menu will be displayed.
